Major gifts have the power to make an enormous impact in delivering positive health outcomes for sick children, adolescents and their families.

We have range of major funding opportunities for individuals, trusts, foundations or companies considering a substantial donation to The Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH). Significant philanthropic donations, and corporate sponsorships, are awarded special recognition and personalised benefits.

making a real difference

Inspirational philanthropists Sue and Geoff Harris, donated $1.1 million to fund the purchase of ten MRI compatible anesthetic units which has changed the face of anesthetic and pain management.

Early units were just a shelf with a gas delivery system. "These new machines are an anesthetic delivery, life support and patient monitoring system all rolled into one", Dr Ian McKenzie, Director, Department of Anesthesia and Pain Management explained.

‘The modern machine is like a mobile intensive care with the capacity to deliver anesthesia and well as having more built in safety features than a 5 star rated luxury car.”

Large donations can be endowed. This enables the principal to be invested in perpetuity, or for a nominated period of time. Projects or positions are then funded from the interest generated from this capital.

Naming rights

Our world class hospital was eight years in the making, bringing together six levels of clinical, research and education facilities. This combined campus enables staff to work together to pioneer research and innovative treatments to tackle some of the world’s pressing child health issues.

We have limited number of naming rights opportunities available in key high profile locations.

Funding from the Naming Rights Campaign will enable the RCH to attract and retain the brightest minds; and to acquire the state-of-the-art equipment necessary to continue as a world leader in paediatric care.

Leadership positions

The RCH has the talent, knowledge and passion to achieve excellence for children's help. But we need your support.

We seek significant contributions to direct towards appointing the best academics and clinicians. Our aim is to fund the best and brightest medical minds to lead a new era of medical research, education and treatment. These leadership positions include heads of department, key researchers and professorial chairs.

Funding of fellowships:

  • attract and retain outstanding researchers and research leaders of international repute
  • build and strengthen world-class research capability
  • provide an excellent research training environment and exemplary mentorship to nurture early-career researchers
  • expand the hospital’s knowledge base by supporting ground-breaking, internationally competitive research
  • forge strong links among researchers, the international research community and/or industry and
  • support research that will result in economic and social l benefits for the Australian community.

Equipment fund

The RCH admits close to 35,000 patients per year almost all of these are acute cases. Acquiring technology capable of early diagnose of disease, and providing lifesaving and improved medical outcomes for children suffering injury or chronic illness is essential if we are to effectively deal with the challenges of the 21st Century.
