Meet the fundraiser: Brad Jenkinson
October 11 2017, 2:36 pm

Brad Jenkinson is taking on the Challenge Shepparton Half Ironman in memory of his son Hamish in the hope of raising funds to support children like him.

An RCH patient from birth, Hamish was born with a rare condition causing multiple blockages in his bowel. Despite surgeon Associate Professor Sebastian King’s best efforts, Hamish’s condition could not be treated and he sadly passed away at six weeks old.

Joined by his friend Ryan Duke, who stood by him during Hamish’s illness, Brad will swim 1.9km, cycle 90km and run 21.1km on 12 November to raise money in support of A/Professor King’s work.

“My wife and I share a dream that one day, because of medical advancements that are only possible through fundraising, families won’t have to suffer the loss of a child to the same condition we lost our beloved Hamish,” said Brad.
